1996 BIR Sportsfest

March 20, 1996 REVENUE MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 09-96 SUBJECT : 1996 BIR Sportsfest TO : All Revenue Officials and Employees The 1996 BIR Sportsfest will be undertaken in consonance with the Civil Service Memorandum Circular No. 6, s. 1995 and Resolution No. 95-2907 dated April 20, 1995 relative to "The Great Filipino Workout", an integral part of the physical fitness and sports development program of the government. The theme for this year's BIR Sportsfest is " Don't Tax Your Body, Relax and Join the Running Spirit ." I. Objectives : This order is issued to: 1. Pursue continuous welfare program for Bureau thereby, promoting a healthy mind and body through physical fitness activity; 2. Promote camaraderie, teamwork and sportsmanship among Bureau personnel by encouraging a wider participation in sports of the National and Regional Offices; and 3. Prescribe guidelines and procedures in the conduct of the BIR sportsfest to ensure its smooth implementation. II. Policies/Guidelines : 1. The 1996 BIR Sportsfest of the four groups in the National Office which consist of the Office of the CIR, Operations, Information Systems and Resource Management as well as the Revenue Regions (RRs) in Metro Manila such as Revenue Regions Nos. 6-Manila, 7-Quezon City, 8-Makati, 5-Valenzuela shall be held at the BIR Grounds, National Office. 2. The Regional Offices in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are enjoined to come up with a sportsfest program and from their corresponding teams who shall compete in their respective regions. 8. Selected non-BIR personnel or groups i.e., AC/PS, TAAP, Utility Workers, Security Guards, etc. shall be allowed to join the Sportsfest subject to the approval of the Executive Committee and provided they shoulder their corresponding expenses. 9. Costumes/uniforms of participants should be very simple and inexpensive. 10. Expenditures for this affair can be sourced from the budget for "Other Services" (Budget Object No. 29). 11. All events must culminate on June 30, 1996 to give ample time for the procurement of trophies, medals, etc. for the awarding of prizes during the BIR Anniversary celebration. III. Awarding Ceremonies on BIR Day : The awarding of prizes, trophies, and Certificates of Recognition for the competing groups in the National Office, Metro Manila Revenue Regions as well as the competing regions in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be held during the BIR 1996 Anniversary. The number of representatives for each event from any of the aforementioned regions in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao authorized to attend the awarding ceremonies in the National Office shall be determined by the Executive Committee.
