Sick Leave of Absence

January 20, 1982 REVENUE MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 05-82 SUBJECT : Sick Leave of Absence TO : All Revenue Officials and Employees in the National Office, Revenue Region No. 4-A, and Revenue Region No. 4-B In accordance with, and as corollary to Rule XVI, Section 16(b) of the Civil Service Rules, the following rules on the sick leave of BIR employees are hereby promulgated: cd i 1. Whenever any official or employee in the National Office, in Revenue Region No. 4-A, or in Revenue Region No. 4-B, shall apply for sick leave of absence for a continuous period of 6 days or longer, he shall first present the required medical certificate to the Revenue Clinic Physician, National Office Building, Quezon City, prior to filing his application for sick leave of absence. 2. The Revenue Clinic Physician shall certify whether or not the period covering the sick leave applied for is justified or necessary. This certification, together with the attending physician's medical certificate, shall be attached to the employee's application for sick leave of absence. 3. Where medical findings show that an employee is afflicted with a contagious disease that may endanger the health of other employees, the employee concerned shall consult the Revenue Clinic Physician, or his own physician, for treatment, and shall be allowed to report back to work only upon certification of the Revenue Clinic Physician that he is fit to return to work. 4. If the employee's leave credit is not sufficient to cover his sick leave he may use his vacation leave credits for such illness pursuant to Section 31 of the above mentioned Civil Service Rule XVI or, if he has used up all his leave credits, he may go on sick leave without pay, provided that such sick leave without pay does not extend beyond one year, pursuant to Section 33 of the same Civil Service Rule. Pending establishment of medical clinics in the Regional Offices, this Order shall cover all officials and employees in the National Office, in Revenue Region No. 4-A, and in Revenue Region No. 4-B.
