October 15, 1997 REVENUE MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 43-97 SUBJECT : Linggo ng Kasuotang Pilipino TO : All Revenue Officials and Employees and Others Concerned For the information and guidance of all revenue officials and employees, quoted hereunder is a letter from the Undersecretary, Tourism Promotions, Department of Tourism dated August 29, 1997. "We would like to enjoin you to support and participate in the country's annual observance of the " Linggo ng Kasuotang Pilipino ", September 22-28 , 1997 (Presidential Proclamation No. 241, series of 1993, hereto attached) calling for the awareness and appreciation of Filipino traditional costumes, ethnic garbs and other attire. LLphil As the implementing agency tasked by President Ramos, DOT is holding an exhibit of Philippines ' 18th Century Costumes and Apparel at the CASA MANILA MUSEUM with address at Gen. Luna St., Intramuros, Manila. This exhibit's theme is " KASUOTANG PILIPINO : SULYAP SA NAKARAAN ". The exhibit will run from September 23 to October 31, 1997 at 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. daily except Mondays. This special show would be an opportunity for the viewers and for us Filipinos as well to appreciate and be proud of our rich cultural heritage in the area of fine artistry, lace work and design embedded in the exhibited apparel. May we request you then to also invite colleagues, staff, friends, family and experience this extraordinary showcase of Filipino fashion of historical significance. May we also encourage you and your department or group to create and conduct any similar activity relative to this Celebration in the likes of enjoining everyone in your organization to wear any Filipino ethnic , cultural or traditional attire for a day or even perhaps for a week .
