March 8, 1999 REVENUE MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 16-99 SUBJECT : Designation of Mondays as "Araw ng Watawat at Katutubong Kasuotan" TO : All Revenue Officials and Employees For the information of all revenue officials and employees, quoted hereunder is Civil Service Memorandum Circular No. 2, Series of 1999, dated 21 January 1999, by CSC Chairman Corazon Alma G. de Leon: "DESIGNATION OF MONDAYS AS "ARAW NG WATAWAT AT KATUTUBONG KASUOTAN" In order to keep the Centennial Spirit alive and to further highlight our sense of national identity during flag ceremonies, every Monday is hereby designated "Araw ng Watawat at Katutubong Kasuotan" as provided for in CSC Resolution No. 99-0228 dated 21 January 1999. Accordingly, all government officials and employees are enjoined to continue with the wearing of native Filipino apparel on said day as earlier provided for in CSC MC No. 20, s. 1997. The design of the native attire shall be left to the discretion of the agency to the extent that it is deemed practical by the office. Examples of the Filipina dress are the Patadyong, Kimona, Sarong, Barong, Muslim outfit. Male officials and employees are enjoined to wear the Barong Tagalog, Camisa Chino or any native apparel appropriate to their work environment. Agency heads shall determine who may be exempted from this circular. This Memorandum Circular shall take effect immediately and shall remain in force until revoked. (Signed) CORAZON ALMA G.
