February 22, 2000 QUEZON CITY ORDINANCE NO. SP 874-00 AN ORDINANCE EXEMPTING FROM THE PAYMENT OF CIVIL REGISTRATION FEES PROVIDED FOR UNDER SECTION 155 (a) AND (b) (1) OF CITY ORDINANCE NO SP-91, S-93, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE "QUEZON CITY REVENUE CODE OF 1991" ALL COUPLES MARRIED IN MASS WEDDINGS SPONSORED BY THE QUEZON CITY GOVERNMENT AND/OR ANY OF ITS ELECTIVE CITY OFFICIALS Introduced by Councilor VINCENT P. CRISOLOGO. WHEREAS, couples who are married in mass weddings are already living as husbands and wives for several years without their marriages being registered in the City Civil Registry Office; WHEREAS, one of the reasons for the illegitimate cohabitation of these couples is the cost involved in legitimizing their illicit relations; WHEREAS, the more effective way to convince these couples to legitimize their relationship is to exempt them from the payment of the corresponding civil registration fees; WHEREAS, under Section 192 in relation to Sec. 458 (a) (2) (ii) of Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the "Local Government Code of 1991", the City Council has the power to grant exemption from payment of taxes, fees and other charges; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF QUEZON CITY IN SESSION ASSEMBLED: SECTION 1. All couples married in Mass Weddings sponsored by the Quezon City government and/or any of its elective City Officials are hereby exempted from the payment of civil registration fees, thereby amending for the purpose Section 155 (a) and (b) (1) of Quezon City Ordinance No. SP-91, S-93, otherwise known as the "Quezon City Revenue Code of 1991".
