December 3, 2002 QUEZON CITY ORDINANCE NO. SP-1200-02 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY TREASURER TO ACCEPT AS AN ALTERNATIVE MODE OF PAYMENT FOR TAXES AND FEES FROM TAXPAYERS THROUGH THE USE OF CREDIT CARD Introduced by Councilors VINCENT P. WHEREAS, one of the great advantages of high technology in this present time is the use of automated teller machines and credit cards facilities; WHEREAS, these credit cards are the most accessible means of payment in daily transactions and dealings compared to checks and cash which are free from long clearing periods and counterfeiting; WHEREAS, the government should device effective, efficient and expeditious manner of accepting payments specially from tax-paying public or tax-payers to encourage them to pay their taxes on time and up to date. AaEcDS NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF QUEZON CITY IN SESSION ASSEMBLED: SECTION 1. The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to accept as an alternative mode of payment for taxes and fees from taxpayers through the use of credit card. SECTION 2. The Business Permits and Licensing Office shall inform all major credit card companies of this ordinance for coordination purposes and for the machines/equipment to be used in implementing the same. SECTION 3. The City government will enter into an agreement with any Credit Card company that will remit payment not more than two (2) days and that no surcharges. CSAcTa SECTION 4. The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to make rules and recommendations regarding this Ordinance. SECTION 5. Prompt taxpayers using Credit Cards shall be entitled the same privileges enjoyed by taxpayers paying in cash pursuant to Ordinance No. SP-1081, S-2002. SECTION 6.
