Y2K Testing Reminders

December 4, 1998 PSE MEMO FOR BROKERS NO. 569-98 SUBJECT : Y2K Testing Reminders In connection with the Y2K Street-Wide Testing, please be reminded of the following: For Marktrade : For remote Marktrade terminals, change the system date of your terminal to the date to be tested (please refer to your copy of the testing schedule; Memo # 550-98). To change the system date: in the control panel, click on Date/Time window, change the date & time according to the schedule, click Apply then OK . LibLex Kindly remember to perform all standard procedures in the Marktrade application (test all functions, print all reports, etc.) and log all problems/discrepancies encountered in the attached sheet. This will help us identify errors in the system or functions which are not working. For those brokers who are downloading data from MarketWorks, please ensure that the downloaded files are saved in a separate directory or diskette to avoid inter-changing your Y2K test data with your production data. For FINTRACS : For those brokers who are downloading data from PCD, please ensure that the downloaded files are saved in a separate directory or diskette so that there will be no danger in mixing the Y2K files with your production files. There will be two (2) extract dial-up lines (EXTRACT4 and EXTRACT5) which can be used or December 5 and December 12, 1998. NOTE: The number of hours that will be used in Fintracs for the Y2K test will NOT be included in the computation of the monthly telecom charges. For Brokers who will be testing their Back Office System: We recommend that you contact your Back Office System supplier/vendor to assist you in drafting your own test plan and guide you with your testing. We advise you to conduct the testing in "test environment" instead of production environment. For those systems without test environment, please backup of your data files first before testing. Please restore backup data files as well as the current system date after testing. We also encourage that you make your own precautionary measures to avoid inter-changing your Y2K test data with your production data. Please accomplish the attached problem log sheet and submit it to us after each testing schedule. Kindly remember that this is only the first of a series of testing dates which will help us identify and resolve possible errors in the system which we that have missed out during the Y2K system update. The entire system testing procedure will also prepare us to face the forthcoming Year 2000 Problem.
