April 6, 1998 PSE MEMO FOR BROKERS NO. 161-98 SUBJECT : Reminder on Telephone Security Once and a while, the Exchange receives complaints about some unauthorized calls made on their telephones installed in the trading booths. While we do have some preventive measures put in place such as strictly monitoring access to the floor outside trading hours, some of these unauthorized calls still get through and some are even made when the trading floor is still open for business. Presumably, some trading floor personnel use the telephones of the booths that are already vacant. LexLib In instances of reported incidents, we conduct investigations but most of the time it is difficult if not impossible to determine who made the unauthorized calls. In this connection, we suggest two possible steps to take: (1) Disable NDD/IDD features of telephones in the booth. (2) For those with NDD/IDD features, brokers may use security access. Brokers may coordinate directly with their phone companies or approach the Exchange staff for assistance. (SGD.) RAFAEL L. LLAVE Chief Operating Officer
