Dear Ms. de Guia : With reference to the news article published in today's issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, we would like to state that recently there have been renewed interests from foreign banks in Equitable Bank and among these institutions is one of the bigger regional banks. We have held initial discussions but, thus far, no agreement has been reached to warrant any formal announcement on the matter. In addition, the feelers we have received center more on a buy-in into our Bank, rather than for a merger, as indicated in the same news article. cdt We will keep you abreast of future developments on the matter and hope that this clarification merits your satisfaction.
