April 7, 1998 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 633-98 SUBJECT : San Miguel Corporation San Miguel Corporation ("SMC") clarified to the Exchange, in a letter dated April 6, 1998, a news article in the April 3, 1998 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer which reported a possible merger of Metro Pacific Corporation's ("MPC") P2.5 billion-a-year Steniel packaging group with the P11 billion-a-year San Miguel Packaging Philippines, Inc. SMC in said letter explained that: "We are unaware of any planned merger between Steniel Manufacturing Corporation and San Miguel Packaging Philippines, Inc. Accordingly, the news article captioned "Metro Pacific to keep Steniel" in the April 3, 1998 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer has no factual basis. For your information. (SGD.) REYNALDO P.
