March 8, 2000 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 583-00 SUBJECT : Unioil Resources & Holdings Company, Inc . This is with reference to the news article entitled "BSP probes investment firm linked to Espiritu" published in the March 4, 2000 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. The article reported that Westmont Investment Corporation (Wincorp), a wholly owned subsidiary of Unioil Resources and Holdings Company, Inc. ("UNI"), is being investigated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for alleged misrepresentation by engaging in banking functions that are not covered by its license. In its letter dated March 6, 2000, UNI stated that: ". . . please be advised that Westmont Investment Corporation ("WINCORP") has informed us that it has now received a notice from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ("BSP") advising WINCORP that the BSP will conduct an examination of its books of accounts, business affairs and financial condition. . . ."
