Petron Denies Tanker Collision in Bataan

March 24, 1999 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 575-99 March 23, 1999 PETRON DENIES TANKER COLLISION IN BATAAN Petron Corporation issued a statement categorically denying there was a collision of two Petron tankers off its Refinery in Limay, Bataan last Saturday, Mar. 20. "There was no tanker collision, much less an oil spill, over the weekend at our Bataan Refinery or off the waters of Limay, Orion and Mariveles." And for the record, Petron does not own or operate any tanker." said a Company official in reaction to a news item which appeared in several dailies about the tanker collision. "In fact, we have in our Bataan refinery some P15 million worth of equipment on board a chartered 3000 HP tug boat to handle oil spills. This is always ready for any oil spill occurrence." Refinery officials are in constant dialogue with local officials to report and to handle any incident deemed to inflict damages to the environment. Petron stands ready and committed to combat any threats to the environment.
