March 25, 1998 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 476-98 SAN MIGUEL BEER GOES TO INDIA San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has signed a licensing agreement with Associated Breweries and Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. (ABD) for the manufacture and distribution of San Miguel Beer in India. "Our tie-up with ABD reflects our intention to establish a significant presence in India. We look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership," SMC president Francisco C. Eizmendi Jr. said. cdlex San Miguel Beer, one of the world's largest selling beers and among the top 20 international beer brands, will be sold in India's five-star hotels, upscale pubs, restaurants, clubs, bars and retail liquor shops. The ABD managing director, Mehroo Irani, said they are excited with its partnership with San Miguel. "We are bringing a truly international quality beer brand with a brewing tradition of over 100 years to India for consumers to enjoy. San Miguel Beer is definitely a welcome asset to our portfolio." The San Miguel Beer licensee in India, established in 1973, owns and manufactures one of India's loading-beer brands. "London Pilsener Beer." The company has introduced several "firsts" in the market, like "London Diet", India's first and largest-selling low-calorie brew which was launched in 1981, and "London Draft Beer", also currently the largest-selling draft beer in Mumbai. The company also brews high-alcohol beers, "London Super Strong-2001 Plus" and "London Super Strong-5001 Plus". Its "Maharajai Premium Lager Beer" is exported to Japan, the United Kingdom and the US
