December 14, 1999 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 3179-99 PHILIPPINE STOCK EXCHANGE, INC. (PSE) Philippine Stock Exchange Center Exchange Road, Ortigas Center Pasig, Metro Manila Attention: Ms . Grace B . de Guia Assistant Manager Gentlemen/Mesdames: Please be advised that Petron has temporarily shutdown, at around 10:35 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 1999, one of its three (3) Crude Distillation Units at its refinery in Bataan. This unit, also known as APS2, has a capacity of 100 thousand barrels per day (mbd). The shutdown for repair is estimated to last about a week in order to correct a technical problem with its furnace. It is expected that the shutdown will have no major adverse effect on supply of the petroleum products to Petron's customer since the other two (2). Crude Distillation Units are operational. In the meantime, Refinery engineers are assessing the damage and necessary preparations are underway to repair the finance.
