November 29, 1999 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 3035-99 PLDT Announces Successful Completion of Inter-Carrier Year 2000 Test with PILTEL and Smart PLDT recently announced the successful completion of its recent Inter-Carrier Y2K testing with domestic carriers PILTEL and Smart. cdll Using the Pasay test exchange facility, PLDT advanced the date of the switch simultaneously with PILTEL's test exchange in Pagadian City and Smart's landline and mobile phone in Fort Bonifacio and Angeles City, respectively. llcd The test was designed to detect potential Y2K date sensitivity in the voice communications facilities of PLDT, Smart and PILTEL. The carriers tested the Year 2000 date transition, leap year, and other critical dates based on the standards and guidelines laid down by the International Telecommunications Union. All test calls were successful and the exchanges did not experience any problem throughout the test. cdll "It is indeed another milestone for PLDT for having conducted a tripartite test resulting in 100% success," PLDT Executive Vice President Antonio R. Samson said. "With the successful completion of this test with Smart and PILTEL, we are now very confident of our ability to maintain communications with other major Philippine carriers through the critical Y2K dates later this year and next year," Samson added. cdlex PLDT still has plans to conduct more extensive testing with other major carriers both domestic and international.
