November 4, 1999 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 2808-99 October 29, 1999 Philippine Stock Exchange 4th Floor PSE Center, Exchange Road Ortigas Center, Pasig City ATTENTION: Ladies and Gentlemen: We refer to your fax letter dated November 3, 1999 requesting for written confirmation/clarification on the news article captioned "Piltel seen closing agreement with bondholders in 3 weeks" published in the October 30, 1999 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. The article reported that Pilipino Telephone Corporation is hoping to close in two to three weeks an agreement to restructure $190 million in international bonds. We advise that discussions between the Company and its bondholders are ongoing and that the parties have not reached final agreement on the terms and timetable of restructuring the Company's convertible bonds. cdll With kindest regards.
