Present during the launching were BenguetCorp's Chairman & President/CEO, Mr. Benjamin Philip G. Romualdez, and local officials of Itogon and Benguet Province. The 5-gallon bottled water will carry the brand name "Danum". "Danum" is an Ilocano term for water. The source of the water is a natural spring in the gold rich mountains of Benguet. The purification process is by reverse osmosis in a six stage water treatment facility and where it is bottled in sterilized 5-gallon containers. The brand will initially be marketed through distributors in Baguio City as well as in the nearby provinces, and it is expected to gain a significant share of the highly competitive bottled water consumer market in Northern Luzon due to its superior quality and affordable cost. Production capacity is pegged at the start of 2,500 gallons per day. LexLib BenguetCorp's diversification from its core line of mining into the water and land businesses is part of its overall reorganization strategy to be a conglomerated natural resource development company.
