Grace B . de Guia Gentlemen: This has reference to your fax message dated October 22 1999 requesting for clarification/confirmation of the news article entitled "Alsons, EGCO near deal" published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer issue dated October 22, 1999. We wish to inform you that the said article is misleading. EGCO is one of the investors Alsons Consolidated Resources, Inc. (ACR) is talking to relative to the options/plans being considered by ACR to raise funds to support its future undertakings, as disclosed in our letter dated August 10, 1999. It is still premature to make any confirmation of said deal since ACR is still in the process of evaluating the various options available in order to meet its future plans in the event that any of the options considered is firmed-up we undertake to make a full and timely disclosure thereof.
