October 15, 1999 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 2645-99 PLDT NEWS PLDT, Islacom Complete Y2K Testing PLDT Announces the Successful Completion of Inter Carrier Year 2000 Testing with Islacom PLDT today announced the successful completion of their recent Year 2000 test series with the Philippines domestic carrier Islacom. Using the Pasay City test exchange facility, PLDT advanced the date of the switch simultaneously with Islacom's test exchange in Bacolod City. The carriers tested the Year 2000 transition, leap year, and other critical dates based on the standards of the International Telecommunications Union. Both carriers reported, that all test were successful and the exchanges did not experience my problems throughout the test program. PLDT has proven once more its capability of providing its customers with the highest quality and most reliable communications access through the year 200 and onwards, PLDT Executive Vice President Antonio R. Samson said. "Our network equipment and computer systems are all Y2K ready. The positive results from this ongoing test program between PLDT and other Philippines carriers is a further confirmation of our readiness to meet the Y2K challenge," said. This exercise also demonstrated the commitment of members of the Y2K Telecommunications Forum of the Philippines who will continue to conduct Y2K test between themselves up to the year 2000. PLDT and Islacom are both founding members of Y2K Telecommunications forum. PLDT has already completed an extensive Y2K testing program with Globe, Bayantel and Smart, as well as with international telecommunications carriers Singtel, AT@T, and Telstra.
