October 30, 1998 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 2474-98 October 29, 1998 NEW SMC DIRECTOR NAMED The board of directors of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) today elected a new member, Atty. Espiridion Laxa, during their regular monthly meeting. Atty. Laxa is senior partner of the Laxa, Dollete, Ejercito, Flores & Associates Law Office, and president of the lawyers group SOLIMAN. He is a prominent figure in the local movie industry, being the president of Tagalog Ilang-Ilang Productions and EDL Productions. The Film Academy of the Philippines granted him the Lifetime Achievement Award, while the FAMAS gave him the Dr. Ciriaco Santiago Memorial Award for blazing the trail for Filipino films in the international market. Atty. Laxa replaced Mr. Ide Tillah in the SMC board The other members of the SMC board are Eduardo M. Cojuangco Jr., chairman and chief executive officer; Francisco C. Eizmendi Jr., president and chief operating officer; Estelito P. Mendoza, Manuel M. Cojuangco, Gabriel L. Villareal, Faustino F. Galang, Carlos A. Arellano, Federico C. Pascual, Dr. Raul P. de Guzman, Alan Lopez Lee, Atty. Benjamin P. Paulino, and Dr. Hermogenes L. Tantoco.
