October 22, 1998 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 2422-98 PRESS RELEASE PLDT strongly denied reports which appeared in some newspapers today that it has evaded the payment of correct taxes to the government in 1996 and 1997. "Contrary to published reports, PLDT has paid P2.6 billion in income taxes for taxable income of P7.4 billion in 1996. For 1997, PLDT paid the government P1.4 billion for taxable income of P4 billion," PLDT Senior Vice President Antonio R. Samson said.
