October 21, 1998 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 2420-98 PRESS RELEASE ECJ TAKES OVER HELM OF LA TONDEA Mr. Eduardo M. Cojuangco, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of San Miguel Corporation, has been elected Chairman of La Tondea Distillers, Inc. (LTDI) during the Company's Board meeting held today, October 21, 1998. Also elected were Messrs. Enrique M. Cojuangco as vice chairman and Carmelo L. Santiago, as director, Atty. Francis H. Jardeleza and Atty. Alberto E. Valenzuela were appointed Corporate Secretary and Assistant Corporate Secretary respectively. The other members of the LTDI Board of Directors are Messrs. Francisco C. Eizmendi Jr., Delfin C. Gonzalez, Jr.; Bernabe L. Navarro, Jr.; Carlos Palanca III, Carlos Miguel B. Palanca, and Rodolfo D. Llamas. A publicly-listed company, La Tondea Distillers, Inc., is the country's premier hard liquor manufacturer and a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation. Its flagship brand, Ginebra San Miguel is market leader in the hard liquor industry. Since 1993, it has diversified into other businesses to included bottled water, where it is the No. 1 manufacturer and juices, where it is a strong second in terms of sales.
