Luisa Buenaventura Supervisor, Disclosure Department RE : Explanation to Newspaper Article Gentlemen : This is in connection with your faxed message dated 24 September 1999 which was received by the undersigned on even date, requiring written confirmation or clarification of the following news article entitled "SEC denies Mondragon bid for restraining order" which was published in the 24 September 1999 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. LibLex There is no truth to the allegation that Mondragon International Philippines, Inc.'s ("MIPI") application for temporary restraining order ("TRO") has been denied. In fact, the hearing for MIPI's application for a TRO has been set for 28 September 1999 at 3:00 p.m. before Director Daisy Besa De Asis of the Securities Investigation and Clearing Department ("SICD") of the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). The hearing on the 28th of September 1999 before the SEC is being conducted precisely to determine whether or not a TRO should be issued.
