Listing and Disclosure Group Fax No.: 636-0809 Gentlemen: Responding to your fax message addressed to and received by the undersigned this morning, please be informed that there is absolutely no basis for the news articles appearing in various newspapers on the alleged contemplated merger between Alsons Cement Corporation and Union Cement Corporation ("UCC")/ hi cement corporation ("HCC")/ Bacnotan Cement Corporation ("BCC")/ Davao Cement Corporation ("DUCC"). The foregoing statement is based on the totality of the corporate records of UCC/HCC/BCC/ and DUCC in the custody of the undersigned as Corporate Secretary of said corporations. As such corporate secretary, the undersigned moreover has absolutely no personal knowledge or information about anything like a contemplated merger involving Alsons Cement Corporation, UCC, HCC, DUCC and BCC.
