August 31, 1999 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 2169-99 For PRESS RELEASE Dream Works Records and Music.com Announce Agreement to Expand Artist's Visibility on the Web . Morristown, NJ; Thursday, August 27, 1999; Music.com, Inc., operating the well known Error ! Bookmark not defined , web site announced today a promotional agreement with DreamWorks Records. Under this agreement; DreamWorks Records has reserved for the promotion of its artists several prime placements within the Music.com site. In addition, DreamWorks Records will have access to sub-URLs of music.com, namely Error! Bookmark not defined , for their artists. Each of these sites will have its own identity, look, and feel under the artist's creative control. Music.com's site will include a directory pointing to these sites. This will allow fans to easily locate artist's official sites, and possibly more importantly, the artist to reach new listeners. DreamWorks Records' artists will also be able to promote and exploit their Error ! Bookmark not defined , email. Easy to promote, almost impossible to forget, this email will give them a direct, cost effective communication channel to their fans, and open countless direct marketing opportunities. This marks the first major music label agreement for Music.com. Owning the URL Error ! Bookmark not defined , as well as the @music.com email service. Music.com's strategy is to associate selected partners to its prime piece of "cyber-real estate". "While music is omnipresent on the Net, it's rather messy out there" said Philippe Bellosguardo, President and CEO of Music.com. "All the information you want on any artist may be online, but you still have to struggle with search engines, sorting through the hundreds of links they return, then deal with out dated sites or 404 error messages. Because Error ! Bookmark not defined , is such an easy and natural address when it comes to anything related to music on the Web, we will obviously play a major role in connecting fans and artists. We are delighted work on this project with the extremely creative team of DreamWorks Records". DreamWorks Records is a division of DreamWorks SKG, which was formed in October 1994 by its three principal partners Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen to produce live-action motion pictures; animated feature films; network, syndicated and cable television programming; home video entertainment; records, books; toys; consumer products; and interactive entertainment.
