September 15, 1998 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 2139-98 SUBJECT : Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company ("TEL") clarified to the Exchange, in a letter dated September 14, 1998, a news article published in the September 12, 1998 issue of the Manila Times which reported that a petition for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the company's Shareholder Rights Plan (SRP) was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. TEL, in its letter, explained that: "Please be advised that, to date, we have not received any notice, summons or copy of the complaint subject of the news article from the Securities and Exchange Commission or the alleged petitioner, Antonio Bautista."
