Stock Exchange Center Pasig City Dear Ms. De Guia : We refer to your fax letter today, August 24, 1999, regarding the news article appearing on the Philippine Daily Inquirer captioned "El Shaddai wants to buy Uniwide." As we have earlier disclosed, the Uniwide Group is talking with several investors, the identity of whom cannot yet be disclosed at present in adherence to our confidentiality agreement with them. Negotiations with these different investors are at various stages. The article regarding the alleged infusion of funds of El Shaddai to the Uniwide Group is, therefore, without basis.
