Stock Exchange Center Pasig City Dear Ms. De Guia : We refer to your fax letter today, July 26, 1999. regarding news articles appearing on certain dailies today as follows: 1. "El Shaddai reported to have bought 53% of Uniwide retail unit". We are not aware of any negotiation relating to this article. As we have previously disclosed, there are certain discussion currently held with potential investors. However, all of these are merely in the exploratory stage. 2. "Two Jaka companies claim Uniwide understated debts". This accounts pertain to liabilities of our affiliate retail company. Support documents filed with the SEC are records of said company as of May 1999. Thus, amounts therein outstanding with these creditors are still subject to reconciliation. cdt 3. "Walmart still keen on distressed Uniwide". We have not received any formal advise with regard to any resumption of talk with Walmart.
