July 27, 1998 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 1738-98 July 24, 1998 Disclosure Department Philippine Stock Exchange PSE Center, Exchange Road Ortigas Center, Pasig City SUBJECT : "Full PNB Privatization Set by 1999" This refers to you facsimile letter of July 23, 1998 regarding a news article captioned "Full PNB Privatization Set by 1999" published in the July 23, 1998 issue of Today. In line with this, following is our response: None of the issues mentioned in said news article emanated from the Bank. It will be recalled that the issues on the loan exposures of PNB to various accounts stated in said news article had intermittently been released in a number of newspaper over a period of time. We would like to underscore that any company decision or any new development affecting the company and that would be deemed to materially impact the price of PNB shares has always been disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange and the Securities and Exchange Commission within the prescribed period and format.
