Listing and Disclosure Group RE : Clarification of Manila Times Articles Gentlemen : We would like to inform the Exchange that the Office of the Corporate Secretary as of this time has not received any official information regarding the possible merger discussion of Union Bank of the Philippines with Far East Bank and Trust Co. The subject matter of the discussion has never been discussed in the recently held Board of Directors meeting on June 25, 1999 nor in any Executive Committee (EXCOM) meeting subsequent to said Board meeting of the Bank until today.
