DE GUZMAN Controller Fortune Cement Approved P2 . 6 Billion Convertible Notes Fortune Cement Corporation approved the issuance of five-year convertible notes totalling P2.6 billion to Blue Circle Philippines, Inc., the local subsidiary of Blue Circle Industries Plc of the United Kingdom, an international cement and heavy materials group, as part of Blue Circle's plan to strengthen its position in the cement industry in the Philippines. In July 1998, Blue Circle invested over P1.4 billion in Fortune Cement Corporation shares of stock equivalent to about 17% equity ownership on fully diluted-basis. dctai Fortune Cement has been rated as one of the more highly efficient cement companies in the Philippines with rated capacity of 1.8 metric ton of clinker annually.
