July 6, 1998 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 1522-98 July 3, 1998 News Release ANDRES SORIANO III RESIGNS FROM SAN MIGUEL CORPORATION Andres Soriano III has resigned as chief executive officer and member of the Board of Directors of San Miguel Corporation. Mr. Soriano has also resigned from his directorships in the following San Miguel subsidiaries and affiliates: San Miguel International Limited; San Miguel Holdings Limited; San Miguel Foods, Incorporated; San Miguel Brewery Hong Kong Limited; La Tondena Distillers, Incorporated, Nestle Philippines, Incorporated; Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Incorporated, and Coca-Cola Amatil Limited. Mr. Soriano said he wanted "to give way to a new management." He said his resignation was effective as of July 2, 1998. cdt A special meeting of the company's Board is to be called shortly to elect Mr. Soriano's replacement. In the meantime, Francisco C. Eizmendi Jr., president and chief operating officer, will be, responsible for the general supervision, administration and management of the businesses of the company.
