(PSE) Philippine Stock Exchange Center Exchange Road, Ortigas Center Pasig, Metro Manila Gentlemen/Mesdames : We respond to your fax message dated June 26, 1998 asking this office for a written clarification/confirmation of a news article captioned "Government may sell Petron stake" published in the June 26, 1998 issue of Malaya. llcd Please be informed that this office has not received any communication from the Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC), owner of the 40%, government shares in Petron, regarding any proposal or intention to sell the said shares.
