June 29, 1998 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 1467-98 June 26, 1998 Disclosure Department LISTINGS AND DISCLOSURE GROUP PHILIPPINE STOCK EXCHANGE, INC. 4/F PSE Center, Exchange Road Ortigas Center, Pasig City Gentlemen : This refers to your faxed letter dated June 25, 1998 requesting for clarification on a news article in the Philippine Star regarding Urban Bank's planned acquisition of Redwood Bank. prcd Please be advised that we have no knowledge of the source of said news article as such did not originate from our Corporate Affairs Department nor did Mr. Arsenio Bartolome III have such an interview with the reported concerned. In any case, international expansion has been one of the Bank's corporate goals. While Urban Bank is fully committed to expanding its operations globally, at present, it has no plans of acquiring Redwood Bank and is now weighing other more attractive options as they present themselves.
