June 8, 1999 PSE CIRCULAR FOR BROKERS NO. 1338-99 PLDT NEWS PLDT said the two executives mentioned in the Philippine Daily inquirer story today (June 7) linked to the illegal tapping of telephones of government officials must be identified. "PLDT, as a policy does not wire tapping and any such occurrence, if proven is unauthorized" PLDT executive vice president Antonio R. Samson said. "We need to know those allegedly involved in this illegal activity so that we can conduct an investigation and take the necessary and appropriate legal and corporate actions. It is unfair to implicate the company and its executive in this wiretapping mess without any due process ." cdlex Samson issued this statement following an Inquirer story which reported that two PLDT executives whose names were withheld, were involved in the illegal wire tapping activities.
