Angeles Assistant Gentlemen : In reference to your letter dated June 07, 1999, please be informed that Far East Bank and Trust Company ("FEBTC") is unaware and has not received any written notice of the plan of Gokongwei Group or any of FEBTC's major shareholder groups to sell or dispose of its shares in the FEBTC. Based on inquiry with Mr. John Gokongwei, his statement that was quoted in Philippine Daily Inquirer did not specifically state the disposition of his FEBTC shares but refer to his shares in various companies in general except Universal Robina Corporation.
