Garcia Chief, SERD 2 Money Market Operations Division Gentlemen : Thank you very much for your letter of 04 May 1999 requesting for details on the suspension of our milling operations on 22 April 1999 due to a leak in the decant tower of Tailings Pond No. 7 (TP-7). We received the said letter only on 21 May 1999. Please be informed that we suspended our milling operations after we discovered the abnormal amount of water and materials flowing from the decant tower of TP-7. The matter was resolved as early as 27 April 1999. During the shutdown, we decided to advance the annual three-week mill upgrading/maintenance activities scheduled for the second half of the year. Mining operations continued during this period with emphasis on waste stripping and exposing more ore. Milling resumed on 21 May 1999. cdll Again, thank you for your kind attention.
