Grace De Guia Listing and Disclosure Group Ladies and Gentlemen : We refer to your fax letter which we received at 9:15 a.m. today, requesting for written confirmation./clarification on the news article captioned "PLDT set to raise stake in Piltel" published in the May 17, 1999 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. We advise that PLDT has not formalized any agreement regarding any increase in its equity stake in Pilipino Telephone Corporation ("Piltel") as discussions continue to be ongoing with the creditors of Piltel. cdlex We reiterate that we will timely inform the Exchange once a formal agreement has been reached between Pilipino Telephone Corporation ("Piltel") and its creditors regarding the restructuring of its bank loans.
