We would like to clarify the news article entitled "RCBC seen issuing Php2.5B in new shares" published in today's issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Please be informed that the public offering of Php2.5 billion refers to the same one approved by RCBC's shareholders in September 16, 1996. As mentioned in the article, RCBC had decided to set it aside due to the poor stock market performance and the Asian crisis that began in July of 1997. Nevertheless, the previously approved public offering has not been cancelled, and RCBC will proceed with the public offering as the appropriate circumstances may warrant.
