September 23, 1996 PROCLAMATION NO. 880 DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 11 TO 17 OF EVERY YEAR AS CAPITAL MARKET DEVELOPMENT WEEK WHEREAS, the Securities and Exchange Commission is tasked with the development of the Philippine capital market, an essential of economic success and a tool of wealth-transfer to ensuring the continued well-being of our people; WHEREAS, capital market development is a fledgling initiative and therefore requires dedication, creativity and dynamism to achieve stable growth and maturity for the Philippine domestic capital market; WHEREAS, one of the essential requisites to market development, growth, and expansion is a deep and extensive investors' base to assure sufficient market activity and liquidity; WHEREAS, to build a wider and stronger investors' base, more Filipinos must become aware about the capital market through information dissemination aimed at inculcating them the basic market principles; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from November 11 to 17 of every year as Capital Market Development Week under the auspices of the Securities and Exchange Commission which shall adopt the necessary measures to inculcate in the public the significant of capital market development in our country. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed. DONE in the City of Manila, this 23rd day of September, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Six.
