August 5, 1996 PROCLAMATION NO. 844 DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 27 TO 31, 1996 AS "DIRECT SELLING WEEK" WHEREAS, it is one of the avowed policies of the government to advance economic growth by promoting expanded trade and commerce; WHEREAS, it is necessary to recognize the important role production executives play in the development of our economy; WHEREAS, there is a need to focus national attention on the contribution of direct selling industry in boosting economic growth; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from August 27 to 31, 1996 as "Direct Selling Week" in the Philippines. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed. cd DONE in the City of Manila, this 5th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Six.
