Declaring 17 March 2018 to 16 March 2019 as the Year for the Celebration of the 95th Anniversary of the Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy

April 3, 2018 PROCLAMATION NO. 464 DECLARING 17 MARCH 2018 TO 16 MARCH 2019 AS THE YEAR FOR THE CELEBRATION OF THE 95TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PROFESSIONAL REGULATORY BOARD OF ACCOUNTANCY WHEREAS , the development goal of inequality-reducing transformation, by accelerating human capital development and expanding economic opportunities in industries and services, remains one of the overriding objectives of the government under the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022; WHEREAS , under Republic Act (RA) No. 9298 or the Philippine Accountancy Act of 2004, the State recognizes the importance of accountants in nation-building and development, and shall develop and nurture competent, ethical, productive, and well-rounded professional accountants whose standards of practice and service shall be excellent, world class, and globally competitive through inviolable, honest, effective, and credible licensure examinations and through regulatory measures, programs, and activities that foster their growth and development; WHEREAS , the Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Accountancy is mandated under RA No. 9298 to, among others, prescribe and adopt the rules and regulations necessary for carrying out the provisions of RA No. 9298, to supervise the registration, licensure and practice of accountancy in the Philippines, and to monitor the conditions affecting the practice of accountancy and adopt such measures, including promulgation of accounting and auditing standards, rules and regulations and best practices as may be deemed proper for the enhancement and maintenance of high professional, ethical, accounting, and auditing standards; WHEREAS , the PRB of Accountancy will be celebrating its 95th year since its formal organization on 17 March 1923 under Act No. 3105 (s. 1923); NOW, THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE , President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period of 17 March 2018 to 16 March 2019 as the Year for the Celebration of the 95th Anniversary of the PRB of Accountancy with the theme "95 Years of Invaluable Service to the Philippines and the Global Accountancy Community."
