October 25, 1999 PROCLAMATION NO. 205 DECLARING JANUARY TO DECEMBER 2000 AS MILLENNIUM CENSUS YEAR WHEREAS, Batas Blg. 72, entitled "An Act Providing for the Taking of an Integrated Census Every Ten Years Beginning in the Year Nineteen Hundred and Eighty, and for other Purposes", provides for the conduct of a national census of population and other related data every ten years beginning in 1980; cda WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforesaid law, the census of population and housing will be taken in year 2000; WHEREAS, to ensure the successful conduct of the census, the support and cooperation of the citizenry in the CENSUS 2000 is necessary; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare January 2000 to December 2000 as the MILLENNIUM CENSUS YEAR. All departments and other government agencies, including government-owned or controlled corporations, as well as local government units, are hereby directed to implement and execute the operational plans, directives, and orders of the National Statistical Coordination Board, through the National Statistics Office, relative to this Proclamation. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and cause the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed. DONE in the City of Manila, this 25th day of October, the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Nine.
