November 17, 1987 PROCLAMATION NO. 185 DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 22 TO 28, 1987, AS "SOCIAL WELFARE WEEK" WHEREAS, the Philippine Association of Social Workers will hold the XVIth Biennial National Conference of Social Workers on November 22 to 28, 1987, at the Philippine Social Science Center in Quezon City; cd WHEREAS, the theme of the conference is "Social Work: The Profession and National Transformation" and the objectives are (a) to examine and analyze the interrelationships of the current social, political, economic and cultural factors affecting the state of the nation; (b) to assess current social work practice in the light of the present problems confronting the nation, and (c) to exchange forward-looking practice models that would accelerate national transformation; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the important role played by social workers in the development of the nation be brought to the attention of the people; NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from November 22 to 28, 1987, as "Social Welfare Week". IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed. DONE in the City of Manila, this 17th day of November, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Seven.
