August 21, 1999 PROCLAMATION NO. 163 DECLARING THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST OF EVERY YEAR AS "DIRECT SELLING WEEK" WHEREAS, it is one of the avowed policies of the government to advance economic growth by promoting expanded trade and commerce; WHEREAS, it is necessary to recognize the important role production executives play in the development of our economy; WHEREAS, there is a need to focus national attention on the contribution of direct selling industry in boosting economic growth; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the last week of August of every year as "Direct Selling Week" under the auspices of the Direct Selling Association of the Philippines. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed. prcd DONE in the City of Manila, this 21st day of August, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Nine.
