September 25, 1987 PROCLAMATION NO. 161 DECLARING MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1987, AS LORENZO RUIZ DAY TO CELEBRATE THE CANONIZATION OF LORENZO RUIZ, MARTYR WHEREAS, the Filipino people is predominantly of the Roman Catholic faith; WHEREAS, the Roman Catholic Church will bestow upon the Filipino people honor in the canonization of Lorenzo Ruiz on October 18, 1987; and casia WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that those who wish to honor him be afforded the opportunity to participate in celebrating this joyous occasion with appropriate ceremonies; NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, October 19, 1987, as Lorenzo Ruiz Day. The day, however, shall be a regular working and school day. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed. DONE in the City of Manila, this 25th day of September, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Seven.
