June 28, 1976 PROCLAMATION NO. 1556 DECLARING JUNE 28 TO JULY 4, 1976, AS SAVINGS CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK WHEREAS, under Executive Order No. 415 dated June 29, 1973, a National Commission on Savings was created with the end in view of hastening capital formation through non-inflationary means, particularly through savings with banks and other financial intermediaries, with the ultimate objective of accelerating the country's economic progress and development; and WHEREAS, the desired objectives of the National Commission on Savings cannot possibly be achieved unless all sectors of society fully realize, and have the continuing awareness of, the extreme and vital importance of saving insofar as it relates to capital formation and the development and progress of the national economy; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from June 28 to July 4, 1976, as Savings Consciousness Week and hereby direct the Commission created under Executive Order No. 415 dated June 29, 1973 to undertake all such measures as may be necessary to ensure the successful observance thereof and I enjoin all sectors of our society and all levels of the government-national, provincial, city and barangay to extend their cooperation.
