May 17, 1999 PROCLAMATION NO. 143 DECLARING THE FOURTH WEEK OF MAY OF EVERY YEAR AS "INSURANCE CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK" WHEREAS, insurance provides families and business enterprises financial security and peace of mind in times of need; WHEREAS, insurance provides an efficient risk transfer mechanism which promotes business efficiency by minimizing inherent uncertainties in the business environment thus improving the competitiveness of the Filipino business enterprise; WHEREAS, the insurance industry contributes in a major way to the social and economic development of the country through the industry's tax contributions, employment generation and promotion of long-term savings; WHEREAS, there is a need to call public attention and ensure nationwide awareness on the importance of insurance. dctai NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the fourth week of May of every year as "Insurance Consciousness Week" under the auspices of the Philippine Insurance Club, Inc. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
