February 20, 1974 PROCLAMATION NO. 1239 DECLARING THE ENTIRE MONTH OF MARCH OF EVERY YEAR AS "TAX CONSCIOUSNESS MONTH" WHEREAS, under the New Society, taxation has achieved new dimensions in the economic development of the country; WHEREAS, it is the civic and patriotic duty of every citizen to pay his just taxes promptly; WHEREAS, under Presidential Decree No. 370, a new deadline for filing income tax return has been moved back to March 15, 1974 instead of the usual April 15 deadline for taxpayers whose income are fixed in nature; aisa dc WHEREAS, there is a continuing need of instilling as ever among our citizenry greater consciousness of their tax obligations and underscoring the taxpayer's role in economic programs and nation-building; NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby declare the entire month of March of every year as "Tax Consciousness Month" under the Auspices of the Department of Finance, through the Bureau of Internal Revenue. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
