May 29, 1998 PROCLAMATION NO. 1237 AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP ORGANIZATION (PIFO) FOUNDATION, INC. TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN FOR THE PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR WHEREAS, the Philippine International Friendship Organization (PIFO) Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization established in 1952 and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 05 February 1996, aims to promote social, educational and cultural programs for foreign students in the Philippines and serves as an instrument of international friendship and understanding; WHEREAS, for the past 46 years, PIFO has assisted some 250,000 foreign students, and cultural and educational tour groups; WHEREAS, PIFO is dependent on membership fees, fund raising activities and voluntary contributions for the funding of its operations, projects and programs; and, WHEREAS, there is need to generate funds to enhance the continued implementation of PIFO's programs and services. NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine International Friendship Organization (PIFO) Foundation, Inc. to conduct a national fund campaign for a period of one (1) year, effective upon promulgation of this Proclamation. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed. DONE in the City of Manila, this 29th day of May, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Eight.
